Local roundup - Brunswick wins at Series

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Andy Maught, Corey O'Brien and Gerrad Talkingotn led Brunswick with three hits each while Jason Mobley hit a three-run home run Thursday to lift the Brunswick Orioles to a 8-3 over Evansville (Ind.) in the opening game of the NABF World Series.

Roger Dawson, Scott Frye and Mobley had two hits each to support winning pitcher John Sechler, who threw a complete game five-hitter while striking out eight.

In the second game, Talkington homered in the bottom of the ninth to lift Brunswick to a 5-4 win over Beecher (Ill.).

Wayne Toms and Maught had three hits each in the win.


River City Classic

National 17, Conococheague 7: Keith Johnson had four hits, while Logan Appel, Scott Bennett and Jordan Dickens each had two hits each to lead National.



Hub City Softball League

South End Tavern 27, Dual Highway Motors 7: Frankie Robertson, Brian Wagner and Tony Butts had four hits each, including a home run, to lead South End Tavern. Greg Mills added four hits and Steve Yost had three hits, including a home run. Brad Crawford, Ricky Malloy and Frankie Litton each had three hits for South End.

Hagerstown Church Softball

Valley Christian 18, Smithsburg Valley 7: Jason Schrader and Jonathan Bakner each hit home runs while Matt Werry had four hits and John Buchanan, Jr. and Mike Trumpower each had three hits for Valley Christian.
