Suns fall in 10, extend skid to 4

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Dirimo Chavez's one-out RBI single off Tim Alvarez in the bottom of the 10th inning lifted the Augusta GreenJackets to a 7-6 win over the Hagerstown Suns on Wednesday night.

It was the fourth straight setback for the Suns, who have lost eight of their last 11 games and own the South Atlantic League's worst second-half record at 15-30.

Travis Ishikawa's RBI single gave Hagerstown a 1-0 lead in the first inning and his solo home run tied the game 2-2 in the fourth.

The Suns rallied for four runs in the fifth to go up, 6-2. Tim Hutting and Jonathan Armitage sandwiched RBI singles around Eddy Martinez-Esteve's two-run triple.

The GreenJackets (21-24) cut their deficit to two with single runs in the fifth and sixth. They tied it in the seventh against reliever Sean Martin on Claudio Arias' solo homer and Mickey Hall's RBI double.

Reliever Arthur Santos (1-2) held the Suns to no runs and no hits over the final three innings for the win.

Ishikawa went 3-for-5 and Hutting and Jesse Schmidt each had two hits for the Suns.

Scott White was 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBI for Augusta.
