Walnut Street Community Health Center in Hagerstown will offer diabetic risk assessments, confidential HIV testing information, skin cancer and blood-pressure screenings and other health-related services during a community health fair Saturday, Aug. 14.
The "Keeping Our Communities Healthy" fair will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the health center, 24 N. Walnut St.
In addition to tours and free health screenings, representatives from the Washington County Health Department, Head Start and other community agencies will be on hand to discuss services ranging from smoking cessation to cancer prevention. Hagerstown firefighters and police, the American Red Cross, Behavioral Health Services, the Western Maryland Medbank, Washington County Hospital trauma unit, Maryland Children's Health Insurance Program and the Healthy Families Program also will be represented.
Face painting and balloons will be available for children. A free raffle will be held for a 26-inch bicycle, school supplies and other prizes from local businesses. Prizes will be awarded at 1 p.m.
