A Hagerstown woman was killed Saturday morning when the sport utility vehicle she was driving collided with a tractor-trailer at the intersection of Greencastle Pike and French Lane near Williamsport, Maryland State Police in Hagerstown said.

Police said Kelly Raye Kennedy, 33, went through a red light at the intersection and hit a tractor-trailer, which had been turning from French Lane into the southbound lane of Greencastle Pike (Md. 63). French Lane is the entrance for the Pilot Travel Center.

Kennedy's 1993 Chevrolet Geo Tracker was pinned underneath the tractor-trailer's front rear trailer axles, police said.

The accident happened at 8:42 a.m., police said.

Kennedy was pronounced dead at the scene by Washington County Medical Examiner Dr. Edward Ditto III.

The driver of the tractor-trailer, Mario Medrano, 34, of Yadkinville, N.C., was not injured.

Police said they will not charge Medrano in the accident.

Medrano had been hauling refrigerated food products in a Freightliner tractor-trailer.

Trooper 1st Class D. Harper, who investigated the accident, said traffic was tied up in the area for about two hours.

The Williamsport Fire Department assisted at the scene, Harper said.
