MIDDLETOWN, Md. - The semifinals of the U.S. Marbles Championship will be held today, but Washington County teenagers won't be participating.

Tournament Director Jeff Kimmell said all three Washington County participants were knocked out of the opening rounds Saturday at Middletown Park.

"Marbles is a very tough game," Kimmell said. "It's not easy. They all played well."

Washington County brothers Jeremy and Jonathan Hulse, and Tim Ratliff were eliminated from the contest.

Doug Watson, of Greencastle, Pa., also was knocked out of the competition on Saturday.

Last year, Jeremy Hulse won the men's division of the U.S. Marbles Championship and the boys division of the National Marbles Tournament.
