Edward Jones


Five local Edward Jones investment representatives will host a free video presentation about the ins and outs of saving for college and applying for financial aid on Tuesday.

The one-hour presentations, which will be held at 11:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m., will address the benefits and suitability of a 529 plan, the different types of financial aid available and strategies to combine public and private financing.

Potomac Bancshares


CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - The board of directors of Potomac Bancshares Inc. has declared a regular quarterly cash dividend of 15 cents per share of common stock to shareholders of record as of Aug. 15. The dividend will be paid on Sept. 1.

Potomac Bancshares also announced net income of $1.517 million for the six months ended June 30, an increase of 18.3 percent over the $1.282 million for the six months ended June 30, 2003. Basic earnings were 89 cents per share for the six months ended June 30, an increase of 23.6 percent over the 72 cents per share for the six months ended June 30, 2003.

Potomac Bancshares is the holding company for the Bank of Charles Town.




The Manitowoc Co.


MANITOWOC, Wis. - The Manitowoc Co. reported strong increases in sales and earnings for the quarter ended June 30.

Net sales increased 27 percent to $526.2 million, from $413.8 million during the same period in 2003. Net earnings were $15.3 million, or 56 cents per diluted share for the quarter, up from earnings of $1.3 million, or 5 cents per diluted share, for the second quarter of 2003.

The Manitowoc Co. is the parent company of Grove Worldwide of Shady Grove, Pa.




Waypoint Financial


HARRISBURG, Pa. - The board of directors of Waypoint Financial Corp. has declared a regular quarterly cash dividend of 14 cents per share to shareholders of record as of Aug. 5. The dividend will be paid on Aug. 13.

Waypoint also announced net income of 30 cents per share, or $10 million, for the quarter ended June 30, as compared to 34 cents per share, or $11.4 million, for the quarter ended June 30, 2003.
