Hundreds of customers in W.Va. lose power

August 05, 2004|by DAVE McMILLION

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Officials say 400 Allegheny Power customers in Berkeley and Morgan counties lost power Wednesday when a storm moved through the area at about 5:30 p.m.

As of Wednesday night, service had been restored to all but about eight Morgan County customers, Allegheny Power spokeswoman Janice Lantz said.

About 260 customers in Berkeley County were still without power and Lantz said those customers were expected to have their service restored by about 2 a.m. today.

Most of the 260 customers live in Martinsburg and Falling Waters, W.Va., Lantz said.

Although the storm caused power outages, emergency dispatchers said it caused little damage.
