SHARPSBURG - Because of the Labor Day holiday, the regular monthly meeting of the Sharpsburg mayor and Town Council will be held at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 13, at Town Hall.

The mayor and council usually meet on the first Monday of the month.

Concrete bridges to be checked

SHARPSBURG - Sharpsburg Mayor Hal Spielman said Monday night he will ask Washington County engineers to check two concrete bridges in the alley between East Main and East Antietam streets.

Councilman Jeffery Saylor said someone mentioned to him that there were problems with both bridges and there was a lot of truck traffic in the alley.

Spielman said county engineers checked the bridges several years ago and there was no problem, but he would ask them to check again.

Town Attorney Charles Wagaman suggested the possibility of setting a weight limit for the bridges.
