$850,000 bond set in stabbing case


Bond for a man charged with stabbing his parents was held at $850,000 by Washington County District Judge M. Kenneth Long Jr. during a bond review hearing Monday, court records say.

Long also ordered a psychiatric evaluation for Douglas Stuart Morgan, records say.

Morgan, 55, of 809 Florida Ave., was charged with one count each of attempted second-degree murder and first-degree assault and two counts each of reckless endangerment and second-degree assault.

Police and emergency personnel went to 809 Florida Ave. at about 9:34 a.m. Sunday for reports of a stabbing.

Morgan's father, Sherman L. Morgan, was stabbed multiple times and his mother, Ruth E. Morgan, was stabbed once on the hand, records say.

Douglas Morgan was being held at the Washington County Detention Center Monday evening, a detention center spokeswoman said.

Sherman Morgan was listed in fair condition at Washington County Hospital Monday evening, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Man held on bond in assault case


Bond for a man charged with assaulting a woman at a Hagerstown residence was held at $350,000 during a bond review hearing Monday, court records say.

Justin Eugene Taylor, no fixed address, was charged with first-degree assault, reckless endangerment, use of a handgun in the commission of a violent crime/felony and handgun on person.

Police allege Taylor displayed a handgun and demanded money from Chrissa Staley at a residence in the 300 block of North Locust Street.

He was being held at the Washington County Detention Center Monday evening, a detention center spokeswoman said. The spokeswoman said Taylor also was being held on $250,000 bond on unrelated charges.
