What makes a person a "wonderful citizen?"
Anyone can suggest an answer by nominating a Washington County resident as one of Washington County's Most Wonderful Citizens.
The Washington County Commissioners are accepting nominations for the program and plan to recognize all nominees in the fall in a ceremony sponsored by Citicorp Credit Services Inc.
A panel of judges will select a grand winner who will represent the county at a ceremony given by Maryland Gov. Robert Ehrlich at the State House and St. John's College in Annapolis in November.
The program is in its 18th year and is part of the "Maryland You are Beautiful" program.
Paulette Sprinkle, coordinator of "Maryland You are Beautiful," said the program is a way to recognize "unsung heroes."
"Those special people and/or organizations whose inner beauty compels them to actively love their neighbor and who should be given recognition for their generous and unselfish actions" are people who can be nominated, she said.
