Md. man dies in U.S. 40 crash

FREDERICK, Md. - A Middletown, Md., man died Saturday following a collision on U.S. 40 at Gambrill Park Road, Maryland State Police said.

Police said Austin L. Wood, 71, of Hawbottom Road, was pronounced dead after being transported to Frederick Memorial Hospital.

Police said Wood's Ford F-150 truck crossed the double-solid center lines while attempting to pass another vehicle. Police said the truck and a 2003 GMC Envoy, being driven by Vallerie B. Kee, 43, of Saint James Place in Frederick, collided head-on. The crash was reported at 1:44 p.m.

Police said Kee was flown to Washington County Hospital for treatment of injuries.

Kee was not listed as a patient at Washington County Hospital late Sunday, a hospital spokesman said

Police said the investigation into the crash is ongoing.
