July 31, 2004

CHARLESTON, W.Va. - The Charleston Alley Cats rocked Hagerstown starter Ryan Sadowski for five runs in three innings on their way to a 6-3 win over the reeling Suns at Watt Powell Park on Friday.

Sadowski (1-7) surrendered eight of the Alley Cats' nine hits before being lifted in favor of Sean Martin to start the fourth inning.

Joey Reiman doubled down the right-field line to give the Alley Cats (18-17, 59-46) a 1-0 lead in the first. Eric Arnold and Robinson Diaz each had an RBI double in the second to make it 3-0.

Clinton Johnston homered to lead off the third and Arnold drove in David Smith - who had doubled - for a 5-0 lead.

The Suns (12-23, 40-62) got on the board in the sixth, loading the bases on hits by Travis Ishikawa, Derek Barrows and Johany Abreu. Tim Hutting was hit by a pitch to force in one run and Jesse Schmidt followed with a two-run double to pull Hagerstown within 5-3.

Matt Dalton (2-2) relieved Charleston starter Kurt Isenberg and got Jason Columbus to hit into a fielder's choice with Hutting thrown out at home, then struck out Mike Wagner looking to end the rally.
