July 30, 2004

Defending series champion Chris Carr, of Fleetwood, Pa., will lead the way when the AMA Progressive Insurance Grand National U.S. Flat Track Series comes to the Hagerstown Speedway on Saturday.

Also scheduled to run is the Harley-Davidson Sportster Performance Series. Gates will open at 4 p.m., with practice beginning at 6 and racing scheduled for 8.

After seven events, Carr leads the series that he won last year. The 37-year-old driver has two wins and six top-five finishes this season.

Joe Kopp, of Mica, Wash., is second in the standings, having recently trimmed Carr's 23-point lead to just 10 heading into Hagerstown. Kopp has one win this year and will be looking for his first win at Hagerstown.
