Area roundup - Bricker finishes 16th

PITTSBURGH - Chad Bricker of Waynesboro, Pa., posted rounds of 75 and 71 on Wednesday to finish in a tie for 16th place at the Pennsylvania Amater Golf Championship at Fox Chapel Golf Club.

Bricker's total for three rounds was 217, 7-over par on the par-70 course.

Waynesboro's Christian Breed soared to an 83 in the morning round and came back with a 73 in the afternoon to finish at 228.

Blaine Peffley, a 19-year-old from Lebanon Country Club, scorched the Fox Chapel course for rounds of 65 and 67 to follow an opening-round 65 that left him at 10-under-par 200.

Peffley spent his first two years of college at the University of Arizona and will be transferring to the University of Maryland this fall.



Sheaffer wins Classic

Brandon Sheaffer shot a 77 to lead all golfers at the Washington County Junior Golf Classic at Beaver Creek Country Club. Kyle Lewis and Kim Eaton each shot a 78 to tie for second, while Jimmy Hill shot a 90 to finish fourth.

Thompson's Gas/Mike's Plumbing 20, Coors Light 2: Doug Taylor had four hits, including a home run, for Thompson's Gas/Mike's Plumbing, while Jimmy Ezolt and Mike Ernde each had four hits and Joe Springer and Scott Shank each had three hits.

Thompson's Gas/Mike's Plumbing 16, Eclipse 6: For Thompson's Gas/Mike's Plumbing, Denny Wallach had four hits, including a home run, Greg McCoy and Kevin Kretzer each four hits and Joe Springer had three hits, including a home run.

Jerry's Sports 20, South End Tavern 7: Dave Foltz and Scott Shupp each had five hits for Jerry's Sports, while Steve Pressgraves had four hits, including two home runs, Wade Elwood had four hits, including a home run, Scotty Holder had four hits and Scotty Slocum and Todd Ricker each homered.
