Area roundup - Fayetteville evens BRAL series

FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - Bill Etter hit a three-run home run in the third inning, and Fayetteville broke a 4-4 tie with two runs in the sixth to defeat Brunswick 6-4 Friday and even the Blue Ridge championship series at two games each.

Chad Braniff went 3-for-3 and Willie Lerner-Diaz added two hits for Fayetteville.

Kyle George's grand slam in the sixth accounted for all of Brunswick's offense.

Game 5 is scheduled for today at Brunswick. Game time is 5 p.m.


Emory Frye Tournament

Halfway 9, Brunswick 8: Joseph Garrish had two hits and five RBI and Patrick Knable had two hits to lead Halfway.


Colt League Tournament

Today's game schedule at the West Regional Baseball Tournament at Hellane Park in Hagerstown is: 1 p.m. - Lawrence County vs. Taneytown; 3:30 p.m. - Hagerstown vs. Mon Yough All-Stars; 6 p.m. - Winner from 1 p.m. game vs. loser from 3:30 game; 8:30 p.m. - Winner from 3:30 p.m. game vs. Mon Yough Redbirds.

PONY League tournament and Fall Ball registration

The PONY League Sectional Tournament starts today at the Hagerstown PONY League field, with Chambersburg National playing West Carroll at 1 p.m., and Chambersburg American playing Hagerstown 'B' at 3:30 p.m.

Games will continue at 5:30 and 8, depending on the results from the two early games.

Signups for PONY League Fall Ball will take place all day today and from 2-6 p.m. on Sunday.

Thunder girls softball

The Tri-State Thunder 12-under Junior Olympic fast-pitch girls softball team, based in Hagerstown, is having tryouts on Tuesday at the Pinesburg Softball Complex from 6-8:30 p.m., and Wednesday at Grace Academy from 6-8:30 p.m.
