Fall softball


Registration for Washington County Girls Softball League fall ball will be held July 31 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. and Aug. 2-6 from 6-7 p.m. at the Kemps Mill Softball Complex.

Flag football league


The Washington County Flag Football League, the oldest organized 9-man league in Maryland, is looking for teams and players for the 2004 season. All games are played on Saturdays at Marty Snook Park in Halfway. For more information, contact G.E. Ingram at 301-432-0056.

Youth baseball camps


The Hagerstown Suns will hold their 2004 Youth Baseball Camp, presented by Outback Steakhouse, Aug 2-4 from 9 a.m.-noon at Municipal Stadium. Campers will learn from the pros, with all instruction coming from Suns players and coaches. This is a full participation camp that will give each camper plenty of individual attention to the development of his or her skills. Cost of the camp is $85, which includes a camp T-shirt, lunch each day after camp and a ticket to each of the Suns games Aug. 2-4. The KMS baseball camp will be held July 30-31 from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at Clear Spring High School. The camp is open to players ages 9-14 and registration fee is $45. The camp director is Keith Mark Shives, formerly of the Kansas City Royals farm system and Florida International university and presently the baseball coach at Clear Spring. Camp will emphasize fundamental drills, infield and outfield play, base running, bunting, hitting, pitching and catching. Each player will receive a camp T-shirt. The KMS pitching camp will be held July 31 at 1:30 p.m. at Clear Spring High School. The camp is open to players ages 12-16 and registration fee is $30. The camp director is Keith Mark Shives, formerly of the Kansas City Royals farm system and Florida International university and presently the baseball coach at Clear Spring. Additional instruction will be given by Team Maryland pitching coach and former Boonsboro High coach Fred Kreiger. The focus of the camp is on arm strength, throwing mechanics, pick-offs and pitcher fielding techniques. Each camper will have an individual bullpen session to develop a future throwing plan. Girls basketball league


Registration is open for the Martinsburg-Berkeley County Parks & Recreation Fall 2004 Berkeley County Girls Basketball League. The league is open to girls ages 8-14 and in grades 3-8. For more information, call the M-BC Parks & Recreation office at 304-264-4842.

Swimming lessons


Registration is open for American Red Cross Swimming Lessons, conducted by the Martinsburg-Berkeley County Parks & Recreation Board. Girls volleyball league

In-line hockey league

Volleyball camp


The Waynesboro YMCA will hold a summer volleyball camp July 26-30 from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. The camp is open to players ages 9-13. For more information, call 717-762-6012.

Jefferson football practice


The Jefferson High School football team will hold its first football practice Aug. 2 from 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Players should bring a lunch and dress in proper practice attire. All students interested in playing must bring proof of insurance and a completed physical exam. These forms can be picked up at the school's weight room from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday or Friday.

Greencastle cross country

3-on-3 basketball


Martinsburg-Berkeley County Parks & Recreation and Berkeley County Hoops will hold the First United Bank 3-on-3 Hoop Challenge July 31 and Aug. 1 at the Berkeley 2000 Recreation Center. Registration fee is $100 for a four-player team or $125 for a five-player team. Teams are guaranteed three games and all team members will receive a tournament T-shirt. Age divisions for individual grades 3-12 and an under-21 bracket will be included. Only the first 120 teams registered will be accepted.
