The Snyders

A surprise dinner was held Friday, June 4, 2004, at Mountain Gate Family Restaurant in Waynesboro, Pa., in honor of the 65th wedding anniversary of Melvin and Geraldine "Gerry" Snyder of Hagerstown. About 40 family members attended the dinner arranged by the Snyders' five children, Yvonne Dodson of Greencastle, Pa., Ray Snyder of Hagerstown, Judy Mowen of Waynesboro, Linda Hughes of Crawfordsville, Ind., and Sandy Dorsey of Hagerstown.

The Snyders were married June 4, 1939, by the late Rev. David Petre in the parsonage of what was known then as Broadfording Church of the Brethren.

Mrs. Snyder is the daughter of the late A. Clifford and Mary Angle.

Mr. Snyder is the son of the late Ray and Edna Snyder. He retired from the Chessie Railroad System in 1980.

They have 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

The Joneses

Paul and Joan Jones of Waynesboro, Pa., celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, April 24, 2004, at a dinner party at Waynesboro Country Club. Friends and family attended from all around the country.


The Joneses were married March 20, 1954, at Kemble United Methodist Church in Woodbury, N.J.

They have three children and spouses, Karen and Gary Perkins of Wilmington, Del., Paul and Linda Jones of Fairfax, Va., and Greg and Eileen Jones of Conifer, Colo.

They have three granddaughters.
