Smithsburg residents show their pride

SMITHSBURG - Smithsburg's 11th annual Pride Days celebration will feature a parade, street dance, food, crafts, live music, displays, open houses and activities ranging from Civil War re-enactments and a five-kilometer run to raptor and reptile shows.

Pride Days will be held throughout Smithsburg on Saturday, July 17, and Sunday, July 18.

Maple Avenue and Railroad Lane will be closed to traffic while craft and food vendors offer their wares at the festival. Other attractions and their locations will include:

Saturday

  • 6 to 10 a.m., all-you-can-eat breakfast, fire hall

  • 7 to 8 a.m., five-kilometer and fun run registration, carnival grounds behind fire hall

  • 8 a.m., five-kilometer run, carnival grounds

  • 8:30 a.m., fun run, carnival grounds

  • 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. tennis tournament, Bradbury Avenue

  • 9 a.m., Cal Ripken League baseball tournament, Pennsylvania Avenue and Fire Company Lane

  • 9 to 10:30 a.m., parade formation, Mapleville Road

  • 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Civil War living history encampment, North Main Street

  • 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Flights End Raptor Center exhibit, Maple Avenue

  • 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., chain saw carver exhibit and demonstration, Maple Avenue

  • 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., crafts and food vendors, Maple Avenue and Railroad Lane

  • 11 a.m., parade, Fil Tec grounds off Mapleville Road to tennis courts off Bradbury Avenue

  • Noon to 1 p.m., live bluegrass music, Railroad Lane

  • Noon to 3 p.m., safety demonstration with Otto the Auto, Maple Avenue
