The McSwains

Eeva and Kenneth McSwain of Hagerstown celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary Sunday, June 6, 2004, with their youngest daughter and her husband, Jan and Carroll Brawner of Brunswick, Md., and a grandson and his wife and child.

The McSwains were married June 6, 1939, in Prescott, Ariz., by the Rev. Homer Green. Eeva M. Alvis was 21 and Kenneth McSwain was 28 when they married.

Mr. McSwain retired at 87 from Craig Paving in Hagerstown.

The McSwains have two daughters, Jan Brawner and Jean Madden, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

The Lippys

Kitty and Wayne Lippy celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary Monday, June 14, 2004.

The Lippys were married June 14, 1959, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hagerstown by Dr. Wilson P. Ard, now deceased.

Mrs. Lippy worked as a medical assistant and a social worker. She is a part-time chaplain at Washington County Hospital.

Mr. Lippy was employed for 18 years in the accounting department at Western Maryland Railway and for 20 years in the shipping and receiving department of Washington County Hospital.


They are members of Washington Square United Methodist Church.

The Lippys have two children, Janice Stewart and Todd Lippy and his wife Debbie of Hagerstown. They have four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
