Brashears, USA score big in Barbados

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados - Hagerstown's Chad Brashears averaged 11 points per game to help the USA Athletes International men's basketball team go 4-1 and win the tournament title at the Bajan Unifest Games.

The USA team played four Barbados teams. The Americans beat two professional squads and the junior national team twice. Their lone loss was to the national team in an exhibition.

"It was a very good experience, a lot of fun. It's not every day you get to represent the United States in an international event," said Brashears, a guard, who hit 12 3-pointers in the tourney. "We watched the movie 'Miracle' on the way down and that was a big inspiration."

Brashears is set to graduate from Shenandoah University in December.
