Council learns about mediation center

BOONSBORO - During Tuesday's Boonsboro Town Council meeting, Jim Chestnut of the Washington County Community Mediation Center told the Town Council about what the organization does.

Councilman Richard Hawkins said he was unfamiliar with the organization and asked if it was new.

Chestnut, vice president of the mediation center's board of directors, said he wanted to make a presentation to the council to increase public awareness about the center.

The mediation center, which is in Keedysville, is more than two years old.

Funded by the Maryland courts system, the mediation center tries to resolve problems and conflicts at no cost to the parties involved.
