Spidey vents

As "Spider-Man 2" casts its web at movie theaters nationwide and makes a charge at box-office records, local teens speak out about Spidey star Tobey Maguire. Here's what they have to say:

- Justin Bean, 17, of Greencastle, Pa.

"I think he did a pretty good job in the first movie, but I think they could've picked somebody better than Kirsten Dunst for Mary Jane. Kate Beckinsale would've been a good one."

- Alex McIntosh, 17, of Hagerstown

"I loved him in 'Seabiscuit.' I'm not too much into superhero stuff."

- Ryan Paine, 17, of Greencastle, Pa.

"I think he's a pretty good actor. I thought he did Spider-Man really well."

- Lindsay Smith, 13, of Hagerstown

"He looked awesome in his Spider-Man suit."

- Tiera Mauck, 15, of Hagerstown

"He's cute. Anything he wears he looks good in."

- Tristan Mitchell, 16, of Hagerstown

"He's a good Spider-Man. The movie's hot."

- Shimika Lake, 17, of Hagerstown

"That movie's off the hook. He looked good, too."

- Raven Dennis, 12, of Hagerstown

"I saw all the previews for the movie and stuff, and I saw him on MTV. He's a good actor."

- Emily Bush, 13, of Cumberland, Md.

A better Spider-Man than Tobey Maguire? "Brad Pitt."

- Corey Morgan, 13, of Hagerstown

"I think Tobey Maguire's good as Spider-Man. He's kind of dorky at first and then, like, it's hard to explain, but he turns cool."

- C.J. Alexander, 13, of Hagerstown

"He acts cool and all that. He worked out hard for the movie."

- Westly Jackson, 12, of Clear Spring

"I think it's cool how he's on MTV and all that."

- Barbie Barvir, 17, of Smithsburg

Tobey Maguire not all that? "I fell asleep during the first 'Spider-Man' movie."
