Federal 9-10 All-Stars reach final

Charles Cvijanovich's triple with the bases loaded in the top of the sixth inning gave the Federal Little League 9-10 All-Stars the lead for good in a 9-7 victory over Oakland in the District 1 losers' bracket final on Friday.

Kris Burdick had three hits for Federal, which will face Halfway today at 4 p.m.

Federal must defeat Halfway twice to claim the District 1 title.

Zach Knotts, Ryan Bennett, Wyatt McBee, Shane Peck and Mike Skipper had two hits each for Oakland.

District 1 Senior All-Stars

Valley 6, Oakland 3: Luke Kerr had three hits for Valley.

American Little League

Funkstown Legion 7 FOP 5: Billy Springirth hit a grand slam and Nic Martin added two hits to lead Funkstown Legion to its third consecutive league title. Gerald Tonsil homered and Tyrel McKoy had two hits for FOP.


Hagerstown Church Softball

Otterbein 5-7, Virginia Avenue 4-5: Corey Mongan had six hits for Otterbein.


Crossroads Green 16, Lifehouse 2: Scott Brown had three hits for Crossroads Green, while Marie Jessop and Kelly Weaver each had two hits.

Tri-State 23, Otterbein of Waynesboro 4: Todd Streett had five hits, Jeff Parks had four and Brian Haines and Derreck Chupak each had three for Tri-State.
