Police said several motorists observed the man driving a blue or gray Dodge van south between Exit 24 near Shippensburg and Exit 20 near Scotland, Pa.
Police arrest Pa. man wanted in Florida
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Borough police on Wednesday morning arrested a Chambersburg man wanted for a parole violation for sex offenses in Florida.
Police said Corey Z. Burch, 24, of 300 S. Second St., was arraigned before District Justice Shirley Shatzer and jailed on $250,000 bond, after being arrested in an apartment in the 100 block of East Queen Street.
Police said officers attempted to make a traffic stop near the intersection of Liberty and Second streets at about 10:30 a.m., but the driver fled on foot. Burch was identified as the driver, but when he was tracked to the apartment, he gave officers a false identification, police alleged.
Two more charged in Pa. escape attempt
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Two more Chambersburg, Pa., residents were charged in connection with an inmate's attempt to escape from a work release assignment Wednesday, Pennsylvania State Police said.
Manuel DeJesus Rideout, 24, and Alberto Lee Torres, 18, were each charged with one count of criminal conspiracy to commit escape, police said.
Police allege Rideout and Torres conspired with a Franklin County (Pa.) Prison inmate to facilitate his escape from a work release assignment on Brandts Church Road near Pa. 416.
On Wednesday, Jordan M. Spoonhour, 18, a prisoner at the prison, was charged with two counts of aggravated assault and one count each of simple assault, escape, criminal attempt to commit kidnapping, theft by unlawful taking and conspiracy to escape in connection with the incident.
Shalena L. Wedlock, 19, was charged Wednesday with escape and conspiracy to commit escape.
Police said that during a work release assignment picking up litter, an inmate allegedly punched kicked and shoved a Franklin County Adult Probation employee and drove off in the adult probation office van.
The man then called a woman who picked him up in a wooded area, police said. The woman drove the man, who was hiding in her trunk, into Chambersburg, where police stopped the vehicle and charged them.
Injured bicyclist's condition serious
HUYETTS - A bicyclist from Massachusetts whose condition was reportedly upgraded to fair Thursday morning at Washington County Hospital, had changed by evening.
Kim MacDougall, 18, was listed in serious condition at Washington County Hospital late Thursday, a hospital spokeswoman said.
MacDougall was injured Monday morning when a minivan struck her bicycle on Md. 63.
MacDougall was with a group of bicyclists riding 400 miles from Maryland to New Jersey when she was struck.
Man hurt when ATV rolls over on him
MOUNT AIRY, Md. - A Monrovia, Md., man was flown to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore following an ATV crash at 5070 Old Bartholows Road late Wednesday, the Frederick County Sheriff's Department said.
Troy Karns, 31, of 5002 Old Bartholows Road, lost control of an Arctic Cat ATV while turning into a driveway and the ATV turned over several times, deputies said.
Deputies said Karns, who was not wearing a helmet, was thrown from the ATV, which landed on top of him.
Karns was listed in serious condition Thursday evening, a shock trauma spokeswoman said.
Man treated after motorcycle crash
NEW MARKET, Md. - A Baltimore man was flown to Washington County Hospital following a motorcycle crash on Mussetter Road near Md. 144 on Thursday, the Frederick County Sheriff's Department said.
Philip Ballard III, 36, crashed his 1997 Harley-Davidson Sportster at about 4:35 p.m. in an attempt to avoid colliding with a vehicle that had turned in front of him, deputies said.
Ballard was treated at Washington County Hospital and released, a hospital spokeswoman said.
