The company helped provide re-enactors for the Computer Generated Imaging for "Gods and Generals," the Warner Brothers feature film directed by Ron Maxwell and starring Robert Duvall, Jeff Daniels and Stephen Lang. The 2001 movie was largely filmed in Washington County on a site near Keedysville. The economic spin-off from hosting that production in the county was significant in terms of revenue for hotels, restaurants, and small retailers. While both of these July 2004 filming projects are smaller and of shorter duration than "Gods & Generals,'' the CVB and the owners of Historical Entertainment, hope to continue the trend of Washington County being viewed as an ideal filming location, with resulting local economic benefits.
According to Russ Richards, "Historical Entertainment is looking for assistance form the local business community, and support in the form of discounts on group hotel bookings, catering, an on-set RV, and other services." Anyone interested in being involved should contact Historical Entertainment through the company's Web site at www.HistoricalEntertainment.com.
