Part of street will be closed for roadwork

June 26, 2004

West Antietam Street between Summit Avenue and Walnut Street will be closed to through traffic on Tuesday and possibly Wednesday, according to Hagerstown city spokeswoman Karen Giffin.

Work crews from Henkels & McCoy Inc. will close the road from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. so they can install a manhole.

The contractor will try to allow local traffic and emergency vehicles through the work area, but access may be denied to all vehicles during certain portions of the work, Giffin said.

Depending on the work's progress, the road may be closed again from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday.

For the week of June 28 through July 1, crews will continue to work on the south side of West Washington Street near Mont Valla Avenue.
