Maryland Attorney General J. Joseph Curran Jr. issued a consumer advisory on Wednesday to warn Maryland residents about foreign lottery scams related to the Maryland State Lottery.
With reports of scams originating from Spain and Canada, Curran reminded lottery players that legitimate lottery games do not request payments of fees to redeem prizes. If a game asks for payment before collection of a prize, the game might be corrupt.
