APRIL 6, 1960-JUNE 21, 2004

Deborah Ann Button, 44, of Hagerstown, Md., died Monday, June 21, 2004, at Washington County Hospital.

She was born Wednesday, April 6, 1960, in Cumberland, Md., daughter of Jack A. Pifer of Hagerstown and Hazel VanMeter Ryan of Flintstone, Md.

She was employed with WHAG-TV as a sales consultant and then a paralegal for the law office of Edward N. Button and later was a mother and homemaker.

Besides her parents, she is survived by her former husband of 19 years, Edward N. Button of Hagerstown; daughter, Amanda L. Helmick of Charleston, W.Va.; son, Preston E. Button of Hagerstown; sisters, Tina Chaney of Flintstone, Kathy Pifer of Flintstone, Barbara Valentine of Short Gap, W.Va., BillieJo Valentine of Cumberland, Md., Stacey Rhodes of Cumberland; and brothers, Jack A. Pifer Jr. of Cumberland, Roddy Pifer of Hagerstown and Hetzel Pifer of Cumberland.

Friends will be received Thursday, June 24, 2004, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown and at Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Friday, June 25, 2004, from 2 to 4 p.m.

Services will be held at Scarpelli Funeral Home on Saturday, June 26, 2004, at 1 p.m.

Interment will follow at Glendale Cemetery in Flintstone.

CHUNG HOM KOK, Hong Kong - Alexis Maxine Austin, daughter of Scott Douglas Austin and Gwendolyn Joann Austin of 7 Pacific View, 22 Cape Road, was stillborn Friday, June 18, 2004, at Matilda International Hospital in Hong Kong.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by one sister, Sydney E. Austin at home; one brother, Noah E. Austin, at home; and grandparents, Glenda Austin of Hagerstown, Judy Weber of Augusta, Ga., and Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Austin of Rohrersville, Md.

Services will be Saturday, July 3, at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Stanley, Hong Kong.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to St. Katherine Drexel Catholic Church, 2037 William Franklin Drive, Frederick, MD 21702.




Rheba Blankenship, 87


JUNE 17, 1917-JUNE 21, 2004

HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. - Rheba Blankenship, 87, of Hedgesville, died Monday, June 21, 2004, at her home.

Born June 17, 1917, in Polk County, Ark., she was the daughter of the late W. L. and Mae Sue Travis Shoptaw.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Loyce E. Blankenship.

She was employed by J.C. Penney Co. in Flint, Mich, for 23 years.

She was a member of Tomahawk Christian Church.

She is survived by one daughter, Carolyn J. Marion of Hedgesville; four grandchildren, Jennifer Collins of Hedgesville, Gail Rockwell of Martinsburg, W.Va., Julie Franz of Stephens City, Va., and Melinda Marion-Adams of Bethesda, Md.; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Cecil Shoptaw and Hershel Shoptaw.

Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg. Pastor Lee Ashley will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.




Harriet A. Golliday, 60


OCT. 26, 1943-JUNE 21, 2004

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Harriet Ann Golliday, 60, of Martinsburg, died Monday, June 21, 2004, at City Hospital in Martinsburg.

Born Oct. 26, 1943, in Martinsburg, she was the daughter of Thelma Melvina Mason Carlson of Martinsburg and the late Lonnie Gus Carlson.

She retired as a cook from the Berkeley County School System.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by one daughter, Robin A. Kackley of Martinsburg; one son, Harry W. Golliday of Richmond, Va.; one sister, Carolyn L. Catlett of Martinsburg; four grandchildren; one niece; one nephew; and two grandnieces.

A memorial service will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Johnsontown Bible Church. Pastor Jack Rudy will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Johnsontown Bible Church, AWANAS Children Program, P.O. Box 301, Hedgesville, WV 25427.

Fannie H. Eby, 87


MAY 11, 1917-JUNE 22, 2004

CARLISLE, Pa. - Fannie Helen Eby, 87, of 137 Stone House Road, died Tuesday, June 22, 2004, at her home.

Born May 11, 1917, in Maugansville, she was the daughter of the late Andrew H. and Fannie E. Hege Martin.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore H. Eby, in 1988.

She was a member of Mountain View Mennonite Church in Carlisle.

She is survived by one son, Lawrence E. Eby of Cabins, W.Va.; four daughters, Hazel V. Williams of Waynesboro, Pa., Rosalie F. Eby, Ferne L. Eby and Janet M. Eby, all of Carlisle; seven grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Eva L. Eby and one brother, Chester H. Martin.

Services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Mountain View Mennonite Church in Carlisle. Mountain View Ministry will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the church.

The family requests the omission of flowers.
