WILLIAMSPORT - A dump truck flipped over on its side near GST AutoLeather's Clear Spring Road plant on Friday afternoon after the driver accidentally drove off the edge of the road, a Maryland State Police trooper said.
The truck was on Bottom Road, stopped several yards before the stop sign at the intersection with Clear Spring Road, when it tipped over and knocked down part of a chain-link fence around GST AutoLeather's parking lot around 1:30 p.m., according to Trooper First Class Rob Embly and the driver. The truck leaked some hydraulic fluid, Embly said.
Part of the fence fell and damaged two cars in the employee lot, Embly said.
The dump truck was carrying stone, which it spilled into the parking lot. The truck, including its load, weighed 68,900 pounds, police said.
Embly said the driver and owner of the vehicle, Kenneth Leon Grimm, would not be charged because it was an accident.
