Man stabbed in abdomen during fight

A Smithsburg man was stabbed in the abdomen during a fight on High Street just after midnight Thursday, the Hagerstown Police Department said in a news release.

William Herman Liggon, 19, was in Washington County Hospital Friday night, but no condition was listed, a hospital spokesman said.

Police said at about 12:30 a.m., a fight between Liggon and a group of unknown men broke out in the 100 block of High Street, just west of Burhans Boulevard. Liggon was stabbed during the fight, police said.

Liggon was taken to the hospital by two friends who were at the scene of the fight. Police were told of the stabbing victim by hospital workers once Liggon arrived at the hospital.

Detective Pat Moulton and Detective Casey Yonkers are investigating the case. They request that anyone who saw the fight call them at 301-790-3700, extensions 281 or 238.

Car and ambulance collide in Hagerstown

A car and an ambulance collided on North Locust Street on Friday night while the ambulance was responding to an emergency call, a Washington County emergency services dispatcher said.

The Community Rescue Service ambulance was responding to a report of someone having a snapped neck on North Locust Street, the dispatcher said.

The incident happened shortly after 10 p.m.

No further information was available about the incident.
