Official: Combine picnic, re-enactment

FUNKSTOWN - Funkstown Assistant Mayor Paul N. Crampton Jr. asked the Town Council on Monday to consider the possibility of merging the town's picnic with the Battle of Funkstown re-enactment next year.

Town Clerk Brenda Haynes said the town picnic, held this year on June 6, was poorly attended. Crampton suggested that if the town picnic were held on the same weekend it would give residents more of a reason to attend both events.

Crampton said he wanted to wait until the mayor returned to decide on whether merging the events would work.

New copier may be in works for Town Hall

FUNKSTOWN - Town Clerk Brenda Haynes said she has gotten a good bid for a new copier, which she said is needed at Town Hall.

She said that the current copier is 10-years-old.

Haynes said the copier she wants -with a stapler and finisher - normally would cost $12,900, but since she told the supplier she was dissatisfied with the old printer it sold them, a company representative called to say the company would sell it to the town at $5,499.
