Boonsboro girl is honored

An eighth-grade student at Boonsboro Middle School was named Youth of the Month for May at Tuesday's Washington County Commissioners meeting.

Jamie Bingaman, daughter of David and Sherry Bingaman, was nominated by her counselor, Joy A. Storms, according to information provided by the county.

Jamie has been on the Distinguished Honor Roll every marking period since entering Boonsboro Middle School in sixth grade, according to the county.

She has been nominated for the S.T.A.R.S. program every year and has had perfect attendance in sixth and seventh grades.

Jamie is involved in the Craft Club at school, is a member of the Boonsboro Area Soccer Team and plays basketball for Boonsboro Middle School, according to the county.

She and her family participate annually in her church's Christmas plays, and Jamie has participated in the canned food drive at Boonsboro Middle School.

Jamie received a savings bond and a Certificate of Merit Award for her achievements at the commissioners meeting.
