Man in critical condition after accident

June 13, 2004

A 19-year-old Waynesboro, Pa., man remained in Washington County Hospital Saturday night following an accident late Friday on Eastern Boulevard.Shawn Thomas Fogle was listed in critical condition Saturday, according to a written release from the Washington County Sheriff's Department, but a hospital spokesman Saturday night said Fogle is a patient at the hospital, but was not listed with a condition.

The Sheriff's Department said in a written release that a 1998 Toyota 4-Runner, driven by Kurt Brockway, 27, collided with a 1996 Chevrolet Blazer, driven by Fogle, about 11:10 p.m. Friday night on Eastern Boulevard, north of Jefferson Boulevard.

Police said the Blazer and 4-Runner collided when Fogle lost control of his sport utility vehicle, which was traveling north, and crossed over into the southbound lane at a 90 degree angle, directly into the path of the 4-Runner. The Blazer was struck on its passenger side, ejecting front seat passenger Tiffany Miller, 17, from the vehicle, police said. Fogle was trapped inside the Blazer, police said. Eastern Boulevard was closed from Jefferson Boulevard to Security Road for three hours as a result of the accident, police said.

A hospital spokesman said Miller's condition was not listed and that no records were found for Brockway. Miller and Brockway are both from Hagerstown, police said.
