Town gets scholarship money

June 10, 2004|by TARA REILLY

HANCOCK - The Hancock Town Council received $1,000 from Pepsi for scholarships for graduating seniors who live in the town.

Town Manager Larry Logan and Mayor Daniel A. Murphy announced that the town received the scholarship money at Wednesday's Town Council meeting.

Murphy suggested that students write an essay about living in town, and the winners will receive the scholarships.

Town Council members said they were considering distributing two $500 scholarships.

Hancock made Pepsi the official beverage of the town in November 2003. The scholarship money is part of the town's contract with Pepsi Bottling Group in Williamsport.

The agreement allows Pepsi to place vending machines at several town-owned locations.
