Funkstown sweeps by Charles Town

Funkstown Post 211 9-3, Charlestown Post 71 4-2

Funkstown Post 211 swept a doubleheader against Charlestown Post 71, 9-4 and 3-2. Justin Weaver had three hits while Tyler Beard and Kent Worthington each had two hits in the first game for Funkstown. Jeremiah Mills had two hits and Chad Bikle added two RBI in the second game.


Brunswick 13, Waynesboro 3

BRUNSWICK, Md. - Wayne Toms went 3-for-3 while Steve Goode, Gerred Talkington, and Doug Stottlemyer all added two hits for Brunswick as the Orioles (12-1, 11-1 Blue Ridge) defeated Waynesboro.

Greg White hit a two-run homer and Doug McEntire doubled twice for Waynesboro (5-6).


Hagerstown Colt League

BJ's Custom Creations 8, Steffey-Findlay 6: Joe Acre pitched a complete game with 12 strikeouts and added two hits of his own for BJ's. Lucas Lichtenberg had three hits and Nick Roberts had two for Steffey-Findlay.

Conococheague Little League

Byer's Market 11, Wolfe's 0: Joey Sutch allowed two hits and Casey McKenrick, Zachary Lucas and Connor Haines each had three hits for Byer's. Sutch and Dustin Violet each had two hits.

Hagerstown PONY League

UAW 12, Hagerstown Floors 2: A.J. Jamison had three hits including a home run and five RBI, while Kim Hamilton had two hits and pitched a two-hitter for UAW. Kyle Cunningham had two hits including a home run, Steve McKinney hit a home run and Adrian Adams and Bryan Parlett each had two hits for UAW.

Goodwill 4, Redmen 1: Brett Turner and Aaron Hershberger homered for Goodwill. Paul Merson had three hits for Redmen.

Valley Little League

F&M Bank 17, Dorsey Bros. 9: Evan Dennis had three hits, including a home run, and drove in seven runs while Jack Schwartz had four hits, Garrett Dick had three hits and three RBI, Justin Morgan added three hits and two RBI, and Andrew Michael had two hits for F&M. Victor McCormick and Ryan Peters both had three hits and two RBI while both Tyler MacKenzie and Nick Martin added two hits for Dorsey Bros.

Wash. Co. Girls Softball

High School Division

Potomac Property 11, Lightning Transportation 1: Christina Mehaffie and Taylor Shafer each had two hits for Potomas and Mehaffie tossed a one-hitter with nine strikeouts.

Williamsport Redmen 11, Middletown Sportsland 9: Lindsay Anderson and Megan Beavers had three hits each while Beth Decker drove in three for Redmen. Katie Sirbaugh had three RBI and Courtney Long had three hits for Middletown.

Maugansville Little League

Maugan's Oil 11, Homecare 1: Brandon Glazer had four hits, Ryan Sword had three hits and Matt Braithwaite had two hits for Maugan's Oil.

Maugansville Senior League

Shawley's 7, Ruritan 4: Winning pitcher Fred Kreiger pitched a two-hitter and added two hits himself while Josh Koontz, Adam Merrbaugh, and Matt Campbell each added two hits for Shawley's.

Halfway Little League

Gehr 14, Valley Storage Bins 3: Shane Muldoon and Chris McSherry each had three hits while Dyland Zimmerman, Brandon McCauley, Austin Marquis, Kaitlin Bowers and Evan Coblentz each had a pair for Gehr. Aaron Stotlemyer had two hits for Valley Storage.

Conococheague Minor

M&T 6, R.J. Mason 1: Riley Arnone had two hits for M&T and Autumn Wahler and Danielle Weller each had two hits for R.J. Mason.

West End Little League

Moose 12, AFL-CIO 10: Kasie Wright had two hits for Moose. Seth Near hit a home run for AFL-CIO.

VFW 5, Coca-Cola 4: Casey Shifler had two home runs including the game winner and four RBI for VFW. Allen Bowers threw a four-hitter with eight strikeouts for VFW. Dwight Boward had 11 strikeouts for Coca-Cola.

West End Minor League

St. Lawrence 8, FOP 4: Devin Redman and Wilberto Peralta each had three hits while Redmen had eight strikeouts for St. Lawrence. Corey Resner had two hits for FOP.

Junior Interleague

Swopes Tire 14, F.O.P. 3: Ian Ramsey had three RBI, Jamison Walck had two RBI, Cory Cordell had two hits and two RBI, Evan Reed had three hits and three RBI and Evan Greenawalt had three hits and five RBI for Swopes.

American Minor League

Kerches 12, Eagles 7: Eric Itnyre and Shalynn Dickens each had three hits and Che Swayne added two hits for Kerches.

VFW 16, Thompson Concrete 5: Jeff Himbeberger, Trace Russ and Sunni Wilson each had two hits to lead VFW.

Smithsburg Babe Ruth League

Fairfield Amvets 17, Smithsburg Sports & More 12: Jeremy Ahrens and Matt Shriver each had two hits and three RBI to lead Smithsburg. Jay Hilderbrand and Alex Akers each had two hits for Smithsburg.

National Little League

Funkstown 15, AMVETS 9: Arthur Nichol led Funkstown with three hits while Devin Socks had three hits for AMVETS.

Funkstown Legion 8, AMVETS 2: Brandon Burnett had three hits, while Craig Walling and Garrick Boward each had two for Funkstown Legion.

Junior Interleague

South County 2, Clear Spring 1: Duane Washko threw a two-hitter with 11 strikeouts. Wesley Truax threw a three-hitter with 13 strikeouts for Clear Spring.

Pete's 7, Reese's 6: Sean Colgan had four hits while AJ McMellen, Cruz Mills, and Cody Palmer had two hits each for Pete's.

Pete's 7, Reese's 6: Brandon Nokes, Sean Colgan, and Cody Palmer each had two hits for Pete's.

Moose 7, Cavetown 3: Dustin Boward and Derek Munro each had two hits and Brian Braswell struck out 10 for Moose. Chris Pitsnogle and Jacob Staebler each had two hits for Cavetown.

Jerry's Sports/Tony's Pizza 11, Century 21 9: Todd Ricker went 3-for-3 with two home runs, Scotty Slocum homered, and Scott Shupp had three hits for Jerry's.

Thompson's Gas/Mike's Plumbing 13, Dual Highway Motors 6: Greg McCoy homered while McCoy and Denny Wallech both had three hits and Rodney Heller had two for Thompson's Gas.
