Funkstown earns Legion victory

LEGION BASEBALL



FREDERICK, Md. - Nathan Himes singled in Drew Crawford for the go-ahead run in the seventh inning and Kyle Robinson added an insurance RBI double as Funkstown edged Frederick 3-1 in Western Maryland District action Tuesday night.

Cole Bellon pitched six strong innings, fanning seven, for his second win of the year. Himes, Crawford and Josh Bowers each had two hits for Funkstown (11-1, 2-0).




BASEBALL



Brunswick 4, Mt. Airy 0


MT. AIRY, Md. - Scott Frye, Doug Stottlemyer and Joe Hart combined on a four-hit shutout and Andy Maught hit a two-run home run as the Brunswick Orioles, of the Blue Ridge Adult League, blanked Mt. Airy Legion.

Justin Flook had two hits and Frye doubled for Brunswick (11-1).




YOUTH LEAGUES



Hagerstown Colt League


Eagles 16, UAW 9: Dustin Boward had four hits for Eagles, while Corey Baker had two hits, including a home run, and Darren Jackson had two hits. For UAW, Miles Brown had two hits, including a home run, and Brandon Rohrer had two hits.

FOP 19, Steffey-Findlay 4: Andy Morris and Scott Myers each had two hits and Josh Ruppenthal and Bryan Powers combined to pitch a three-hitter for FOP.

Eagles 3, Elks 2

Hagerstown PONY League

Jeter 7, Redmen 4: Tyler Hornbecker had three hits, including a home run, to lead Jeter. Chase Worthington homered for Redmen.

FOP 14, Goodwill 13: Cody McCarthy had four hits, while Seth Poffenberger, Adam Taylor and Cody Butts each added two for FOP. Aaron Hershberger had four hits, including a home run, and four RBI for Goodwill. Aaron Mills and Brett Turner each two hits in the loss. Mills homered.

Federal Little League


Rotary 9, Exchange 7: Justin Mills had two home runs, including a grand slam, for Rotary, while Matt South and Kris Burdick each added two hits. For Exchange, Alyssa Collier had two hits and Pat Salvagno struck out nine.

Rita's 16, Hagerstown Trust 9: Joey Kromawetter had three hits while Matt Perini and Andrew Creager added two hits each to lead Rita's. Matt Miller had two hits for Hagerstown Trust.

Maugansville Junior League


Hagerstown Trust 15, Spicher's 3: Colby Fisher pitched a four-hitter and Josh Ocasio, Ryan Moser, Jake Dembeck and Jack Mesner each had two hits to lead Hagerstown Trust.

Maugansville Little League


Brewer's Saab 10, Ruritan 9: Josh Henry, Brent Mentzer and Brad Kiracofe each had two hits for Brewer's. Zach Snodderly had three hits, including a home run, and Jake Bachtell had two hits for Ruritan.

Yankees 10, Tigers 3: Logan True had three hits for the Yankees.

American Little League


Elks 3, Funstown 2: Nick Martin and Jordan Anderson each had two hits and Billy Springirth threw a one-hitter for Funkstown.

FOP 12, Thompson Concrete 0: Gerald Toinsil pitched a two-hitter and added two hits, including a home run, for FOP.

South Mountain Little League


Lions 10, Nationwide 0: Troy Hartle, Tyler Thompson and Channey Lum each had two hits for Lions.

Valley Little League


St. Lawrence Cement 14, SMRG 1: Jason Kendall and Zane Garver combined on a three-hitter and Jesse Lombardi had three hits and two RBI to lead St. Lawrence. Kendall added two hits and Ryne Willard homered in the win. Jordan Thurber had two hits for SMRG.

Norm Scott Drywall 16, BJ Builders 3: Gregg Hoffman had three hits, including a home run, while Alek Redenbo and Matthew Redenbo added two hits each to lead Norm Scott Drywall. Wayne Roberts homered for BJ Builders.

Valley Little League


Chewsville Lions 6, Jeter Paving 5: For Chewsville, Luke Kerr had three hits and struck out seven and Doug Gamby homered. For Jeter Paving, Mike Edwards had four hits and Travis Hayes had two.

Smithsburg Babe Ruth


Sports & More 19, West Frederick Yankees 3: Jay Hilderbrand, Phil Shriver and Alex Akers each had three hits for Sports & More.

Halfway Little League


Gibney's 10, Redmen 9: Will Bowen had three hits, while Jason Hammond and Brandon Kreps each added two for Gibney's. Hammond homered. Tyler Miles, Eddie Fear and Cruz Maldonado each had two hits for Redmen. Maldonado homered.

West End Little League


Stags 16, Western Enterprise 3: Brandon Hess had four hits, including a home run, for Stags, while Frankie Squibb and Trevor Shuck each had three hits.

West End Minor League


St. Lawrence 18, Hopewell 10: Devon Redman had three hits and seven RBI and Desmond Ingram added four RBI to lead St. Lawrence. Dylan Stouffer had three hits and Caleb Demotezz had two for Hopewell.

Conococheague Minor League


Tony's Pizza 16, Reid's 7: T.J. Boyer had three hits, while Sterling Christy and Aaron Snook added two for Tony's. Connor Renn had two hits for Reid's.

Sharpsburg Little League


Company One 10, Chase Construction 9: Eddie Seabright hit a two-run double in the bottom of the sixth inning to lift Company One. Jeremy Smoot led Company One with three hits, while Kyle Murphy added two hits. Peter Martin and Daniel Friend each had two hits for Chase. Friend homered.
