SMITHSBURG - Smithsburg Emergency Medical Services personnel responded to 67 calls for service in May, Capt. James Ulrich said.
Eight of the calls were to Frederick County, Md., and four were to Franklin County, Pa. Fourteen calls were in the Smithsburg town limits, while another six were to the Mount Aetna area, five were to the Hagerstown area and 13 were to the Leitersburg area.
The most common call was for vehicle accidents, which accounted for 11 calls. Another six calls were for chest pains and six for seizures.
Personnel transported 42 patients to area hospitals. Of those, 35 went to Washington County Hospital, four to Frederick Memorial Hospital and three to the Waynesboro Hospital.
