June 06, 2004

LAKEWOOD, N.J. - Jon Coutlangus was like Allstate for the Hagerstown Suns on Saturday. Not only did the Hagerstown center fielder put the game in his own good hands, he provided some needed insurance, too.

Coutlangus preserved the Suns' lead by throwing out a Lakewood runner at the plate in the eighth inning before providing an RBI single in the ninth to help Hagerstown to a 4-2 win over the BlueClaws.

Lakewood loaded the bases while trailing 3-1 in the eighth. Omar Bramasco singled up the middle off Tim Alvarez, who replaced reliever Mike Musgrave, to score Randy Ruiz.

Coutlangus scooped the grounder and fired to catcher Brian Anderson to stop Bryan Hansen from scoring the tying run from second.
