Va. man charged in W.Va. club shooting

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - A Winchester, Va., man was taken into custody early Sunday in connection with an incident involving multiple shots fired at the Legz/Spot Club on W.Va. 9 east of Martinsburg.

Berkeley County Deputy R.L. Steerman Jr. reported hearing the shots at 2:49 a.m. while he was on an unrelated traffic stop in the vicinity, police said. At the same time, a call came into 911 pinpointing the shots to the club and revealing a vehicle description, police said.

Steerman saw the vehicle near the intersection of W.Va. 9, U.S. 11 and W.Va. 45 and pulled it over. The driver, Harold Jackson-Jones, 29, was taken into custody after Steerman found a handgun under the driver's seat, police said.

That handgun was later found to be stolen from Frederick County, Va., police said.

Jackson-Jones was charged with wanton endangerment, transferring/receiving stolen property, bringing stolen property into the state and being a felon in possession of a firearm, police said.
