Shirley A. Hoover

Shirley Ann Hoover, 57, of 58 Randolph Ave., Hagerstown, Md., passed away Tuesday, May 25, 2004, at Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown.

Born in Hagerstown on Monday, June 24, 1946, she was the daughter of Paul and Mary Katherine Swope of Hagerstown.

She was the wife of George L. Hoover. They were married for 41 years.

She was employed with Antietam Health Services and formerly was employed with Washington County Board of Education for 16 years. During her time of illness, Shirley was lovingly ministered by the Rev. Dr. A. Paul Harne and the Rev. Glen Garner.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her parents and daughter Paula K. Kretzer of Hagerstown; sister, Nancy J. Eichelberger of Hagerstown; granddaughter, Brittani Kretzer, Hagerstown; grandson, Bradley Kretzer, Hagerstown; nephew, Brian Eichelberger, Hagerstown; and nephew, Dan Grove, Hagerstown.


Services will be private and at the convenience of family.

At the family's request, there will be no visitation.

Memorial contributions may be made to Virginia Avenue Church of God, 17306 Virginia Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21740.

Arrangements are being handled by the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home.

Helen E. Furley

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Helen E. Furley, 88, of 1063 S. Fifth St., died Monday, May 24, 2004, at the Shook Home.

Born Dec. 12, 1915, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late Harvey S. and Annie M. Myers Miller.

Her husband, Nevin H. Furley, died Feb. 21, 1996. They were married April 20, 1935.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of King Street United Brethren Church and Buds of Promise Sunday school class.

She was a member of AARP Franklin County Chapter 2287 and Golden Age Club, where she had served as tour director. She was a Girl Scout leader.

She is survived by two daughters, Patricia F. Goulding of Chambersburg and Judith F. Dunow of Penryn, Calif.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one sister and five brothers.

Private graveside services will be held in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.

The family requests the omission of flowers. Memorial donations may be made to Chambersburg Hospital, 120 N. Seventh St., Chambersburg, PA 17201.

Arrangements are by Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg.

Nina E. Harris

Nina Elizabeth Harris, 66, of Hagerstown, died Monday, May 24, 2004, at 65 Murph Ave., Hagerstown.

Born June 22, 1937, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Marie Virginia Taylor Lee.

Her husband of 20 years, Mitchell Lawrence Harris, died July 18, 1986.

She was a member of Greater Campher Temple, King's Apostle Holy Church, Hagerstown.

She is survived by two daughters, Barbara L. Lee of Hagerstown and Tina M. Morris of Charles Town, W.Va.; two sons, Kevin E. Lee and Randy S. Lee, both of Hagerstown; one sister, Connie Armstrong of Hagerstown; one brother, Arthur Lee of Baltimore; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Catherine Keets and Mildred Lee, and four brothers, Daniel Lee, John Lee, James Lee and Randy Wells.

Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Greater Campher Temple, Hagerstown. The Rev. Bishop Derek Kee and the Rev. Joseph Fowlkes will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown.

Visitation will be Friday at 10 a.m. at the temple.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Washington County, 1500 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21742.

Helen M. Fritsch

Helen Mae Fritsch, 89, of Hagerstown, formerly of Johnson City, N.Y., passed away, Monday, May 24, 2004, at the Homewood Nursing Home, Williamsport.

Born December 15, 1914, in Uhricksville, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Alice Ludwig Sweeley.

Mrs. Fritsch was a member of Primitive Methodist Church, Johnson City, and had attended the Williamsport United Methodist Church.

She had been an executive secretary for the Endicott Johnson Shoe Corp.

She is survived by one son, James E. Fritsch and wife Sherry, Smithsburg; two grandchildren, Julie Friend and husband, Michael of Smithsburg, and Michael Fritsch and wife Kendra of Hagerstown; two nieces; and one nephew.

In addition to her parents, she also was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Donald Fritsch in 2002; and by one brother, Julian Sweeley.

At the family's request, there will be no visitation.

Private funeral services will be conducted at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel at the convenience of the family, with the Rev. Marcia Mayor officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown.

BUNKER HILL, W.Va. - Elizabeth "Lib" Zimmerman, 83, of Bunker Hill, died Monday, May 24, 2004, at Heartland of Martinsburg, W.Va.
