Local motorcyclist remains hospitalized



A motorcyclist injured in a crash nearly two weeks ago was still being treated at Washington County Hospital Sunday evening, a hospital spokeswoman said.

The spokeswoman said Beth Woodworth was being treated there Sunday, but her condition was not available.

Woodworth, 22, of 625 Summit Ave., in Hagerstown, was injured on May 12 after crashing her motorcycle on eastbound Interstate 70, Maryland State Police said. Police said Woodworth's motorcycle lost control while switching lanes, overturned and forced Woodworth to slide into an overpass.

Police originally believed the woman was a Pennsylvania resident.




W.Va. driver being treated for injuries



Berkeley Springs, W.Va., man remained at Washington County Hospital Saturday after his truck collided head-on with another truck.

A Washington County Hospital spokeswoman said Kenneth Fleegle, 19, of Old Farm Road, was being treated at the facility, but his condition was not available Sunday night.

The crash occurred at about 10:10 a.m. in the 14700 block of Weller Road, which is off Hollow Road east of Hancock, according to a news release from the Washington County Sheriff's Department.

Fleegle was driving a 1990 GMC truck north on Weller Road, the sheriff's department said.

Clyde Stotler, 50, of Dyer Road in Mercersburg, Pa., was southbound in a 1997 Ford truck, the sheriff's department said.

Fleegle, who was not wearing a seat belt, was flown to Washington County Hospital after the accident for treatment of his injuries, the sheriff's department said.

Motorcyclists injured in Interstate 70 crash

McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - Two motorcyclists were taken to area hospitals with major injuries following a crash on Interstate 70 Sunday morning, Pennsylvania State Police said.

Police said Michael Kelly, 56, and Robyn Kelly, 54, both of Leonard, Mich., were seriously injured when, at about 11:06 p.m., the 1994 Honda Goldwing they were riding on slid off the roadway onto a berm and flipped several times. Both were thrown from the motorcycle, according to police.

Michael Kelly was the operator of the motorcycle at the time of the crash, police said.

Police said he was taken to Bedford (Pa.) Hospital, and she was taken to Conemaugh Valley Memorial Hospital in Johnstown, Pa.

Police did not release the Kellys' conditions late Sunday.




Pa. man faces assault charges



CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A Chambersburg man was charged with assault and other charges following an incident Thursday at 12256 Mountain Road, Southampton Township, Pennsylvania State Police said Saturday.

Steven L. Jones, 35, was arraigned before District Magistrate Larry Meminger for simple assault, harassment and indirect criminal attempt.

Julanne Jones, 33, told police that she and Steven Jones got into an argument at their residence at 9:30 p.m. in her bedroom. While arguing, she said Steven Jones grabbed her by the neck and squeezed it tightly, police said.

Steve Jones also pushed her several times, police said.

Julanne Jones said she had a Protection from Abuse order against Steven Jones, according to police.
