I don't know if I inherited that from my mother, but I remember telling people as a kid that my mother could make a complete meal when all she had in the house was an egg. There are many times I don't think I have anything in the house to cook, but I will start looking through the cupboards, pulling things out and then going "I wonder how this would be?" But then I never do it again.

Do you have a favorite thing you like to eat?

Anything that has those ingredients. I do like pastas a lot, and anything with fresh vegetables in it. And they've got to be fresh and they've got to be cooked just slightly. I like fresh things and I like things that have a lot of spices in them. And color is very important, too. It has to be colorful food.

Do you have something that's requested by friends or family?

Keith requests that sandwich a lot, and there's a roasted salmon dinner that he requests.

I discovered making biscotti from scratch and probably have seven or eight different flavors. That one gets requested a lot.

Usually, though they just request: 'Make something. Surprise us.'
