The Poffenbergers

William (Bill) and Mary Margaret Poffenberger celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Sunday, March 14, 2004, at a dinner party at the Red Horse Restaurant in Hagerstown, hosted by their children and spouses.

The Poffenbergers were married April 2, 1954, in Sharpsburg.

Mrs. Poffenberger is a homemaker.

Mr. Poffenberger retired from Mack Trucks in 1991 and is farming.

The Poffenbergers have six children, Jeff Poffenberger, Debbie Toms, Doug Poffenberger, Lisa Drake, Scot Poffenberger and Brian Poffenberger. They also have nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The Michaels

Lee and Frances Michael celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary at the Hotel Hershey in Hershey, Pa. Joining in the celebration were their children, Dr. and Mrs. Joseph Converse of Williamsburg, Va., and Lee Michael Jr. of Hagerstown, along with two grandsons and a granddaughter.


The Michaels were married April 10, 1944, in Los Angeles. Originally from Berkeley Springs, W.Va., they have lived in Williamsport since 1960.

Mrs. Michael worked for Pennsylvania Glass Sands Corp., in Berkeley Springs for 32 years, retiring in 1985.

Mr. Michael owned Lee Builders in Hagerstown until his retirement in 1986, then operated Michael Building Consultants in Williamsport until 1992.
