Woman accused of outlet thefts

A Washington, D.C., woman was being held Tuesday at the Washington County Detention Center, one day after she was arrested in connection with an alleged theft spree at Prime Outlets of Hagerstown, according to court records.

Washington County District Court Judge Ralph H. France II set bond at $50,000 for Tiehera A. Brown of 5730 Southern Ave., SE, in connection with incidents Monday, court records state.

Brown was charged with 13 counts of theft less than $500 and six counts of uttering false documents or obtaining goods and money by means of forgery, records say.

Maryland State Police allege counterfeit American Express travelers checks were used at several stores including Gap, Home 101, OshKosh B'Gosh, L'eggs, the Nike Factory store and The Children's Place Outlet, according to records.

Police allege that nine American Express travelers checks, also counterfeit, and money that was received as change after the purchases were found in the woman's purse when she was arrested in the area of the Prime Outlets food court, records state.

A Washington County Detention Center spokesman said Brown was being held there Monday night.
