Two treated following Interstate 70 accident

Two motorists were taken to Washington County Hospital Sunday morning following a two-vehicle wreck on Interstate 70 near Hagerstown, Maryland State Police said.

Police said Pamela D. Nichols, 44, of Williamsport, and Dolly M. Burdette, of Bunker Hill, W.Va., 77, were injured during a crash west of Beaver Creek Road reported at 8:17 a.m.

Police said a 2003 Honda Civic, driven by Nichols, and a 2001 Kia Sephia, being driven by Burdette, collided, causing the Kia to overturn onto its roof.

Burdette had to be extricated from the vehicle, according to police.

Nichols was charged with unsafe lane changing, following too closely and reckless driving, police said.

Nichols was treated at Washington County Hospital and was released, a hospital spokesman said.

Burdette was being treated there late Sunday, but her condition was not available, the spokesman said.

Man charged with property destruction

A West Washington Street man was charged in connection with property destruction at his neighbor's residence, the Washington County Sheriff's Department said.


David A. Nicely, 53, of 17333 W. Washington St., was charged with malicious destruction of property over $500 and false report to a law enforcement officer, deputies said.

Deputies said the department was contacted for three calls in reference to a window being broken out early Saturday at 17329 W. Washington St. Deputies allege Nicely was seen running from the residence after deputies began watching the residence.

Deputies allege Nicely was found hiding in the bushes between that residence and his residence.

He was arrested without incident, according to deputies.

Two ATVs reported stolen in Pa.

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Pennsylvania State Police are investigating two reports of ATVs being stolen last week.

Between 10:30 p.m. May 11 and 9 a.m. May 12, an orange 1985 Suzuki LT185F was stolen from a garage on Edenville Road in Hamilton Township, police said. The garage is owned by James Reed of Waynesboro, Pa., police said.

A 1985 Yamaha 225 three-wheeled ATV was stolen Thursday between midnight and 5 p.m. from the home of Margarita Felix of 1334 Mallard Drive, police said.

Lawn tractor stolen, later found in yard

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A lawn tractor was stolen from a Guilford Township home Saturday, but was later found, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

The tractor was left, apparently without gas, in the yard of Robert N. Cutright of 1216 Prairie Drive, police said. It was stolen between 2 and 8:30 a.m., but was later found in a yard on East McKinley Street Extended, according to police.

Motorcyclist eludes Pa. police in chase

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Speeds of 140 mph were reached Thursday night while a fleeing motorcyclist and his passenger were pursued, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

Police said they tried to pull over the operator of the red imported motorcycle on U.S. 11 near Greenvillage Road at 8:33 p.m. The operator instead fled on U.S. 11, illegally passing several vehicles using the center turn lane.

The motorcyclist eventually eluded police, according to police.

He was described as a young white male wearing a white shirt and khaki shorts, police said. His passenger was a young white female with a white shirt, maroon pants and long, blond hair, police said.
