May 13, 2004

MOUNT AIRY, Md. - A Frederick County teenager was killed and seven others people, including six juveniles, received minor injuries in a two-vehicle crash Wednesday near the eastern border of the county, the Frederick County Sheriff's Department said.

Deputies said a 17-year-old girl, who was not identified, of Mount Airy was pronounced dead at the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore.

She was flown to Baltimore after she was involved in a crash reported at 4:07 p.m. in the 13800 block of Penn Shop Road, deputies said.

Deputies said the 17-year-old was driving south in a 1999 Nissan when she lost control and traveled into the northbound lane and collided with a 1997 Ford Econoline driven by Jessica Lynn Ayers, 26, of Mount Airy. Ayers and six juvenile passengers were transported to Frederick Memorial Hospital for treatment of minor injuries, deputies said.
