Hubs earn share of Antietam title

PREP BASEBALLCLEAR SPRING

- No. 4 North Hagerstown clinched a share of the MVAL Antietam title Monday with a 13-3 win over Clear Spring.

Matt Ridenour went 2-for-2 with a grand slam and five RBI and Ben Lloyd added two hits and two RBI, while Brent Toms hit a solo home run.

Pitcher Matt Murray had nine strikeouts in the win and drove in two RBI. John Breehl added two hits for the Hubs (14-5, 11-2).

Brad Turner hit a solo home run and Zeb Jacobs had two doubles for Clear Spring (4-11, 2-10).

Chambersburg 6, Gettysburg 2


CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Irvin Sleighter hit a third-inning two-run homer and struck out 12 for No. 1 Chambersburg in a Mid-Penn Commonwealth win over Gettysburg.

Tyler Brown and Andrew Burke each added run-scoring hits for Chambersburg (16-2, 14-1).

Hedgesville 7, St. Maria Goretti 6


Dirk Webb had two hits, including a solo home run, and two RBI, while Duncan Williams had two hits with three RBI to lead No. 2 Hedgesville.

Matt Bartgis added two hits and two RBI for the Eagles (20-7), Cody Seiber had two doubles and Bryce Blair added three hits, including a double, for Hedgesville.

Kevin Brashears led Goretti (8-14) with a triple and four RBI and Paul Angelo had two hits.

FROSTBURG, Md. - Aerik Taylor struck out 10 and had two hits to lead Williamsport to a win over Westmar.

Nick Adenhart, Andy Taylor and Will Roney each had two hits for the No. 2 Wildcats (16-3, 10-3).

NEWVILLE, Pa. - Corey Livengood pitched a no-hitter with eight strikeouts to lead the No. 8 Waynesboro over Big Spring.

Livengood had two hits, including a triple, and Andrew Caron had two hits with three RBI. Brian Lisko added two hits for Waynesboro (10-8, 7-7).

Catoctin 15, South 5


Will Delawter went 4-for-5 with a two-run homer and Justin Greenup added a solo home run to lead the Cougars past No. 10 South.

Kurt Simmel and J.J. Pagleianette each had two hits with two RBI and Danny Duranko and Jake Yocum had two hits apiece for Catoctin (11-8, 8-5). Bryson Appel had two hits for South (9-7, 7-4).

WASHINGTON - David Smith and Kylee Griffith each drove in a run for Jefferson (18-10).

HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. - Michelle Scales pitched a complete-game five-hitter with 10 strikeouts as Hedgesville beat Jefferson in the first round of the double-elimination West Virginia Class AAA Region II Section 4 Tournament.

Emily Cunningham and Kayla Laing each had an RBI single for the No. 3 Eagles (18-8).

Jefferson (9-10) plays Martinsburg today.

BOONSBORO - No. 7 Brunswick won with two runs in the eighth inning.

The Warriors scored on a hit batsman with the bases loaded and a Brandy Lapore single. Caroline Woodhams had a two-run triple for Boonsboro.

STEPHENS CITY, Va. - Rebecca Morgan had three hits and drove in four runs for Grace Academy. Holli Yoder had four RBI and Amanda Jones had three RBI for Grace (4-6).

Jamie Fowler had nine strikeouts for South Hagerstown (8-9. as the Rebels were shut out by Catoctin in an MVAL Antietam matchup.

Molly Holtzman scored Heritage's only goal on an assist by Jennifer King. Dreuanna Clark recorded 26 saves in goals for Heritage (6-3-2).

Firefighters 11, Hagerstown Ford 3: Brendan Palmer had three hits, Brad Rohner hit a home run and J.J. O'Neill had two hits for Firefighters. James Jordan had two hits for Hagerstown Ford.
