PRINCETON, W.Va. - Shepherd University's baseball team waited until Mother's Day to provide a nice gift, but it ended up being for coach Wayne Riser. The Rams unleashed an awesome 23-hit attack to bounce Concord, 14-10, and capture the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference baseball title on Sunday.

It was the first baseball title for Riser, in his 14th year as coach of the Rams and first for Shepherd since 1984.

Charlie Drummond set the tone with a first-inning, two-run home run as Shepherd (23-17) got out to a 3-1 lead.

Drummond ignited a three-run third inning with a double and scored on a triple by Josh Delawder, one of his four hits.

Opening the fourth, Drummond again set the table with a leadoff solo home run as the Rams plated four runs for a 10-3 lead.
