Suns split twinbill

HICKORY, N.C. - The Hagerstown Suns split a doubleheader with the Hickory Crawdads on Saturday, winning the first game 8-4 before dropping the nightcap, 7-3.Nate Schierholtz continued his hot hitting for the Suns, driving in three runs in the first game. Schierholtz has 20 hits in his last 28 at-bats.

Jonathan Armitage had two hits and Jason Columbus had a pair of RBI singles as the Suns rallied from a 3-0 deficit. Mike Wagner hit a two-run homer in the fifth inning.

Tim Alvarez picked up his sixth save of the season and fifth of the week.

Jesse Schmidt went 2-for-3 and Travis Ishikawa hit a two-run homer in the second game for Hagerstown.|None
