May 07, 2004

CHARLESTON, W.Va. - The Hagerstown Suns used Education Day to take the Charleston Alley Cats to school.

Hagerstown gave a lesson in making the most out of your offense, with six of its 10 hits going for extra bases Thursday to scratch out a 6-2 victory at Watt Powell Park.

Jonathan Armitage hit a two-run home run in the eighth and Jesse Schmidt also homered as Hagerstown (11-14) knocked off the South Atlantic League Northern Division leaders for the second straight game.

Tim Hutting, Nate Schierholtz and Jay Knowlton each doubled and Jason Columbus tripled for the Suns.

Suns starter Bryan Millikan (1-1) went five innings, allowing the one run on four hits, while walking three and striking out four, for the win.
